Weekend Sports Report

Josh McQuoid the ex-AFC Bournemouth forward, capped five times by Northern Ireland has returned to Weymouth Football Club following his departure at the end of last season.

The former Terras captain’s return was announced to the fans before their home two goals to one defeat at the hands of Division one club side Reading at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The Terras took the lead through Nathan Melvin-Lambert then conceded twice before the referee blew the final whistle to end their pre-season fixtures.

Next Saturday the Terras begin their National League South campaign away at Clarence Park against St Albans City.

Weymouth Under 23 Development squad visited Bovey Tracy on Saturday and travelled back to Dorset with a 3 goals to 2 victory in the bag.

The Terras women’s side played Poole Town women on Sunday at Milborne St Andrew and went down by four goals to two.

Dorchester had no fixture this weekend and are also one the road next Saturday in their opening Southern League match against Merthyr Town.

Portland United were in pre-season action at Crediton and returned to Grove Corner with two goals to one victory, their scores coming from Luke Sheehy and Greg Borthwick.

The Blues kick off their Wessex League season on Tuesday evening away at Church Road against Laverstock and Ford.

Bridport who compete in the Southwest Peninsular Eastern division entertain Newton Abbot Spurs at St Mary’s next Saturday.

Premier Division:

Bere Regis beat Martinstown by 1 wicket, Blandford beat Dorchester by 17 runs and Poole overcame the challenge of Cattistock & Symene by 259 runs.

Division 1:

Beaminster beat Swanage by 10 runs, Poole second team ran out winners against Portland Red Triangle by 6 wickets and Puddletown beat Hamworthy Recreation by 4 wickets.

Division 2:

Marnhull won at Charlton Down by 77 runs and Weymouth beat Parley at Redlands by 6 wickets.

Division 3:

Dorchester seconds beat visitors Abbotsbury by 101 runs.
