Bridport take pride of place this weekend with a playing record of played 4 Southwest Peninsular League East matches won four, now only Ivybridge Town who have amassed the same number of points, but who have scored 3 more goals than the Bees prevent the West Dorset club from topping the table.
The Bridport club chairman Adrian Scadding said tongue in cheek after the game, “We are up so high up the league some of the lads have developed nose bleeds”.
The Bees entertained Teignmouth at St. Mary’s and beat them by 3 goals to 2, with Riley Weedon scoring twice and Kieran Daniels adding a third.
In the National League South Weymouth travelled to Hemel Hempstead and returned to Dorset with 2 goals to 1 victory.
Last week Terras’ manager Bobby Wilkinson said that he was going to think about changing his penalty taker after a couple had gone unconverted and he decided to call up Brandon Goodship, his change paid off with the former Southend front man slotting the ball into the home net to open the scoring for Weymouth.
Hemel Hempstead equalized before substitute Tom Stagg lashed the ball past the home custodian into the net to snatch victory for the Terras.
After the game our Man at the Match said, ” One goal each at half time was probably just about correct as the game was going, but in the second half we had to clear the ball off our own line and then came Tom Stagg’s strike, it was a great goal and it deserved to be a match winner “.
Dorchester were also on the road and travelled to Walton & Hersham, for a Southern Premier League Fixture and the Magpies led by 3 goals to 2 at the break courtesy of two strikes from former Bridport striker Jack Wright and one from Shaq Gwengwe, but whatever the home manager said to his players at half time worked as they netted four second half goals with no addition from Dorchester making the final score Hemel Hempstead 6 Dorchester 3.
At Grove Corner Portland United hosted visitors Baffins Milton Rovers and shared the Wessex League points with the final score 1 goal apiece.
Ben Morris scoring the Blues’ only goal.
