Local models strut their stuff to raise funds for Against Breast Cancer

Fourteen local women, all with an experience of breast cancer took to the catwalk in the Victorian Hall of Dorset Museum on 12 October and raised over £7,000 for the charity Against Breast Cancer. Local firms, RiskSTOP Ltd and CG Fry Development were the generous gold sponsors of the event along with other sponsors and donors.

Charity Angels UK, the fundraising group, advertised for women with a personal experience of breast cancer and were overwhelmed with the response.

And local retailers played their part too. Gallery on the Square, Great Western Camping, Jacqueline’s Boutique, Colmers Hill in Symondsbury, From My Mother’s Garden in Abbotsbury and No 6 Boutique all dressed the models in outfits from their stunning autumn/winter collections.

Despite some initial nerves, the models glided down the catwalk like true professionals.

The appreciative audience enjoyed a glass of fizz and some mouthwatering canapes, entertainment from the Dorchester Rock Choir and Juno Bellydancing Troupe before they could appreciate the beautiful outfits and stunning women coming down the catwalk.

And appreciate them they did; cheers, applause and a standing ovation with a few tears for good measure seemed so fitting for the fantastic group of models who gave such great performances.

Over £7,000 was raised for Against Breast Cancer which funds research into secondary breast cancer. Donations can still be made on the Charity Angels UK Dorchester Fashion Show Just Giving page.
