Appeal for information after fail-to-stop collision in Dorchester

Officers investigating a fail-to-stop collision in Dorchester are appealing for anyone with information that may help identify the vehicle involved to get in touch.

The collision occurred at around 5.30pm on Thursday 26 October 2023 at the Stadium roundabout involving a blue Vauxhall Corsa and another car.

It is reported that the driver of the second car shouted abuse at the Vauxhall driver, before driving off in the direction of Monkeys Jump roundabout without giving any details.

The car is described as a dark-coloured estate with tinted windows and a partial registration number of YR61. The male driver is described as white and of stocky build with short hair and was wearing orange high-vis clothing.

Police Constable Ramsay Inkster, of Dorset Police, said: “Thankfully, the collision caused minor damage and nobody was injured.

“I am keen to identify the driver of the vehicle that failed to stop at the scene and would ask anyone with information to help my enquiries to please come forward.

“I understand this happened in a busy area and I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230170787. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
