Witness appeal following reported assault in Weymouth

Detectives investigating an incident where a man sustained serious injuries after reportedly being assaulted in Weymouth are appealing for information.

It was reported that at around 2.10am on Sunday 12 November 2023 a man aged in his 30s was assaulted by a man and woman at an address in Lennox Street. He was taken to hospital for treatment to a number of facial injuries that are believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

Following enquiries at the scene, a woman aged in her 30s was arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent. She has been released on police bail as an investigation into the incident continues.

Detective Sergeant Rich Barnett, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are carrying out a full investigation into this reported assault and I am keen to speak to anyone with information that might assist our enquiries.

“While it is reported the incident took place inside an address, I would like to hear from anyone who witnessed any movement of individuals in and around Lennox Street near the time of the assault or anyone driving in the area who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“I would also urge residents in the vicinity who have home CCTV or doorbell cameras to please review their footage for the early hours of Sunday 12 November 2023 to see if they have captured anything that might assist our investigation.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230179127. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
