Weekend Sports Report

Weymouth Football Club’s Senior men’s team go into the FA Trophy 3rd round draw following their 4 4 result at the Crabbe Stadium on Saturday against Dover Athletic.

With the game tied the result was decided on penalties, the Terras out scoring their hosts by 4 penalties to 1 with on loan Chelsea custodian Jared Thompson making 2 spec

ular penalty saves to secure Weymouth’s place in the hat for Monday’s draw.

In normal time striker Ezio Touray netted twice for the Terras with Brandon Goodship and skipper Tom Bearwish both adding a goal each.

Our Man at the Match said: “You can pick our Man of the Match between Touray for scoring twice, Thompson for saving 2 penalties or the whole team for coming back from a 2-goal deficit”. Then he added tongue very much in cheek: “I can see Wembly Stadium in front of me already”.

Portland had a 1 goal to nil victory in a Wessex League match at Grove Corner against visitors Fareham Town Greg Borthwich grabbing the Blues goal while in the Southwest Peninsular League Cup Bridport overcame the challenge of Cornish side Wendron beating their guests by 3 goals to 1.

Sol Ayunga netted twice for the Bees with George Calverley scoring the Bees 3rd.

In the local rugby Tribute Southern Counties League Weymouth & Portland ran in a total of 7 tries against Yeovil at Monmouth Avenue, Dorchester went down by 21 points to 26 at home against North Dorset and Swanage & Wareham beat Royal Wootton Bassett second team by 22 points to 10 in Wiltshire.

On Sunday Weymouth Football Club’s women’s team put Bournemouth Manor to the sword beating them by 9 goals to nil away in the County Cup.

Annie Redding grabbed a hat trick then added a 4th goal to her tally with Emily Screen scoring 3 times and Ruby Clark and Lucy Roberts both netting once each.
