Weekend Sports Report

Weymouth Football Club’s senior men’s team’s participation in this season’s FA trophy competition ended at the Silver Jubilee Stadium on Saturday afternoon when they down by 2 goals to nil against Hendon.

Our Man at the Match said, “On paper we should have won as we are in the division above Hendon, but it was a knockout competition, we failed to turn pressure into points and suffered the consequences, so there will be no trip to Wembley for the Terras this season”.

Dorchester travelled into Wiltshire to play Swindon Supermarine for a Southern Premier League match and returned to the Avenue Stadium with all 3-league points courtesy of a 2 goals to 1 victory.

The Magpies scores coming from Will Fletcher’s double strike.

Portland United entertained Hythe & Dibden at Grove Corner and neither of the Wessex League teams could trouble the score board operator and the game ended goalless.

Both Bridport’s football and rugby matches fell victim to the weather and were postponed.

On Sunday Weymouth Football Club’s Women’s team entertained Purton Women at the Bob Lucas Stadium and despite scoring 2 goals, one each from Charlie Wilson and Annie Redding they went down by 3 goals to 2.

The Terras have signed Joe Cook on a loan deal from National League side Dorking.

In the Tribute Southern Counties Rugby League, Dorchester hosted Walcot at Coburg Road and led by 17 points to 5 at the break, however it was a game of 2 halves and after the break and now with the elements in their favour the Bath based club took control to score 23 unanswered points to win the game by 28 points to 17.

Dorchester score a try at Coburg Road against visitors Walcot.

Weymouth & Portland didn’t have much luck away at Slaughtergate losing their game against North Dorset by 32 points to nil.

Swanage & Wareham were away in Somerset playing Frome and lost out by 37 points to 15.

In the Dorset & Wilts Leagues the Swan’s second team were beaten 24 points 20 by visitors Puddletown at Bestwall Park.
