MP urges organisations to bid for next round of Community Ownership Fund

Chris Loder MP is urging local organisations and councils across West Dorset to bid for the next round of the Community Ownership Fund. Round Three of the Fund is open and will close at 11:59am on 31st January 2024. The competitive Fund enables community and voluntary organisations, and parish, town, and community councils, to take ownership of assets at risk of loss.

Mr Loder said: “The Community Ownership Fund offers capital funding of up to £2 million for all asset types and revenue funding of no more than £50,000. To be eligible, the asset must be: at risk of loss without community intervention; run viably and sustainability for the long-term in community hands; and if the asset is already owned, it requires essential renovations to be sustainable.”

The local MP continued: “In West Dorset, there’s lots of potential for community organisations to intervene to utilise our local assets, such as sporting and leisure facilities, pubs, shops, cultural buildings and heritage buildings. It’s important that communities can be involved to save assets at risk from closure, sale, neglect or energy inefficiency.”
