Weekend Sports Report

On Saturday Weymouth failed to make it 5 National League South wins on the spin in Essex losing the game by a goal to nil at Chelmsford.

Our Man at the Match said. “We gave the ball away all to often in the second half, but we have done well recently winning our last 4 games on the bounce so I will settle for that”.

Dorchester failed to trouble the scoreboard operator going down by 3 goals to nil at the Avenue Stadium against visitors Gosport Borough.

Portland United’s Wessex League match away against United Services Portsmouth was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Bridport take pride of place this weekend winning their Southwest Peninsular League cup tie at Newquay by 7 goals to 6, Riley Weedon netted for the Bees after 83 minutes of the game had elapsed then Newquay cancelled it out in the 94th minute of normal time sending the cup tie into overtime and with there being no further scoring the game had to be decided on penalty’s.

The Bees penalty scorers were Weedon, Toby Diaz, Joe Etherington, Adam Diaz, Charlie Pitt and Kieran Daniels.

In the Dorset Premier League Blandford beat Poole Borough by 3 goals to 1 away and Portland United Reserves drew 1 all at Grove Corner against Holt United.

In the same division Sturminster Marshall lost out yet again, this time at home against Merley Cobham Sports by 12 goals to nil leaving them with a playing record of.

Played 21, Won 0, drawn 0, Lost 21, Points Difference -216, Points 0.

Last season Sturminster Marshall ended in mid table 10th place, but due to an exodus of senior players the management have had to promote under 16 youth team players into the club’s senior team.
