Items stolen from a Portland church – image appeal

Officers investigating a burglary at a church on Portland are issuing images of stolen items and appealing for information.

Dorset Police received a report at around 7.30pm on Sunday 14 April 2024 that a break-in had occurred at St Peter’s Church in Grove Road and various brass items had been stolen. These included two plaques, candlesticks and a crucifix.

Police Community Support Investigator Matt Barton, of Dorset Police, said: “We are conducting a number of enquiries into this burglary and I am appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to please contact us.

“I am also issuing images of some of the items that were stolen and would urge anyone who comes across similar items locally or being offered for sale in suspicious circumstances to please get in touch.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240055586. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
