Update: Arrests following reported assault in Weymouth

Two people have been arrested in connection with a report of an assault in Weymouth.

At around 12pm on Wednesday 12 June 2024 a woman was walking along the Rodwell Trail and had just passed under Buxton Road when she reportedly saw four people who are known to her.

It was reported that the woman – aged in her 20s from Portland – was assaulted by the group. She attended hospital for treatment to injuries that are not believed to be serious.

Following enquiries, an 18-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man – both from Luton in Bedfordshire – were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. They have been released on police bail as further investigative work is carried out.

Officers are continuing to appeal for any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
