Radipole Park Gardens officially opened

Radipole Park Gardens was officially opened on Saturday by the Friends Group following a £1.5 million Lottery-Funded refurbishment.

The project was finally completed in August and has brought some spectacular improvements that include a new adventure playground, cafe and toilets, Improved car parking, a sensory garden, a petanque court, outdoor table tennis tables, a multi-use games area and new walkways and landscaping.

The latest news on the Friends of Radipole Park & Gardens website says that, after overcoming the challenges of the weather with torrential rain, high winds and flooding, the final Lottery visit has taken place, albeit in “horrendous rain”.

The news item goes on to list the facilities and activities available such as table tennis, basketball, football, tennis, pétanque, nature trail, face painting, playing on the scooter track, or trying your feet at hopscotch. The cafe is now open and serves hot and cold drinks, cakes, mouth-watering bacon butties and ice cream, and will even serve ice creams for your furry four-legged friends.

Plus you can “wander through the new sensory garden, touch and sniff the different scented leaves in the raised herb bed, and find the Coca-Cola plant, which is always popular with the children.”
