None of our leading Non-League Football Clubs could muster a victory between them this weekend.
Weymouth opened their National League South Campaign with a three-goal to two defeat away against Tonbridge Angels, the Terras goals coming from Malachi Linton and Ezio Touray.
Our Man at the Match said: “Well, at least we are 16th in the league table and not in the relegation zone; Genesini and Thompson played well and upfront, Linton ran himself into the ground and sets an example to the rest of the team to meet his standards”.
After the final whistle, the Terras’ skipper Tom Bearwish said: “We created a lot of chances, but there was a 15-minute spell when we had a few problems that we didn’t sort out quick enough, and they scored twice, but there are positives that we take away from the game”.
In the Southern Premier League, Dorchester drew 1 goal each at the Avenue Stadium against one of the promotion favourites, Havant & Waterlooville, with their goal from Polish striker Olaf Koszela.
Portland United could only bank a point at Grove Corner, drawing two all with their Wessex Premier League visitors Blackfield & Langley. The Blues scores courtesy of George Stuttle and Greg Borthwick.
In his post-match interview, Blues manager Kyle Critchell, who was not happy, said: “For 70 minutes, we controlled the play and went two goals to nil in front, then we switched off and lacked the desire to get first contact on the ball inside our own penalty area. On Tuesday evening, we host Sherborne at Grove Corner, and the lads must stand up and be counted, as they will be physical and stick to their game plan.”
Bridport have now made three Southwest Peninsular League East outings so far this season and still remain pointless, losing by two goals to nil at Torrington.
