Weekend Sports Report

Dorchester Football Club has issued this statement: Dorchester Town Football Club can confirm that manager Tom Killick’s absence from recent games was due to him contracting sepsis. We are pleased to say that he has now been discharged from the hospital and is continuing to recover at home. Tom is confident he will be back in the dugout for our home game this Saturday.

Tom Killick

The Magpies manager, Tom Killick, is now out of hospital and recovering from sepsis.

Football round-up

Only one of our senior local non-league teams could manage to pocket all 3 league points on Saturday.

Portland United travelled to Fareham and returned to Grove Corner with all 3 Wessex Premier League points, scoring the game’s only goal courtesy of their striker Greg Borthwick.

Weymouth welcomed their former manager, Bobby Wilkinson, back to the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Wilkinson is now at the helm of Hemel Hempstead Town, and it was the Royals who travelled back to London to celebrate their two-goal to-nil victory, a result that leaves the Terras rooted firmly to the foot of the National League South Table.

Our Man at the Match said, “There didn’t seem to be any improvement since last week, but then at least we scored twice. Today, we hit the crossbar once and apart form that, I can’t remember Weymouth having another shot on target.”

“Now let us hope that with manager Mark Molesley having served his touchline ban and back in the dugout on Tuesday evening, Weymouth can improve against visitors Chippenham and get a result that can lift the Terras off the bottom of the league table”.

Dorchester didn’t fare much better away at Basingstoke, losing the Southern Premier League match by 2 goals to nil.

In the Southwest Peninsular East Bridport played away against Elburton Villa.

Striker Riley Weedon opened the scoring to put the Bees a goal to the good, but 2 second-half strikes from Villa condemned Bridport to return to St Marys still pointless.

On Sunday, Weymouth Football Club’s women’s team lost a friendly against Bitton Ladies by 3 goals to nil at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
