The closure of the Chickerell to West Bay coast road, the B3157 at Portesham, while contractors install a new water main, is causing significant problems on New Barn Road which runs from Abbotsbury to the village of Rodden.
It is a single-track road used mainly by local farmers with deep mud gulleys that are beginning to cut up due to motorists using it to bypass the closure.
This morning (Tuesday 8th Oct) one vehicle had problems getting its two nearside wheels back on the carriageway after getting stuck in the deep mud, so patience is required when travelling in the area.
