Dedicated supporter of the twinning of Dorchester and Lubbecke thanked at civic reception

In honour of over four decades of hard work to help forge strong links between Dorchester and the German town of Lubbecke, town councillors and members of the Dorchester-Lubbecke Society came together to thank Mr Klaus Herrmann at a reception in the Council Chamber last Sunday.

Dorchester Town Council has a long tradition of supporting twinning arrangements through its links both with Lubbecke and with Bayeux in France.  For close to 50 years,  Mr Herrmann has worked tirelessly to make guests from Dorchester feel welcome in his home town of Lubbecke, as well as enjoying many visits to England.

Sunday’s reception brought together nine former Mayors of Dorchester alongside the current Mayor, Cllr Robin Potter – all of whom expressed their gratitude to Mr Herrmann for his commitment to friendship between the two communities.

The Mayor added “Klaus’s quotation from the previous night’s concert of Handel’s Messiah ‘Why do the nations so furiously rage together’ highlighted this commitment to twinning and the hope that this and other friendships will help peace throughout the world, a sentiment we all agree with wholeheartedly!”
