Witness appeal following thefts from vehicles in Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant footage to come forward as they investigate thefts from motor vehicles in Weymouth.

Dorset Police received a report shortly after 12am on Tuesday 29 October 2024 of a man and a woman breaking into cars in Greenway Road in the Redlands area.

It is believed access was gained to three vehicles before the suspects were disturbed and they made off in the direction of Greenway Close. Enquiries are ongoing to confirm what was stolen from inside the vehicles.

The man involved is described as around five feet eight inches tall and of slim build. He was wearing dark clothing and a bag around his waist.

The woman is described as five feet eight inches tall and of larger build. She was wearing a black coat with the hood up and pink and beige tiger print leggings. She also had a bag around her waist.

Sergeant Nick May, of Dorset Police, said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this matter and I am keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity, or people matching the descriptions given, in the area during the night of Monday 28 October into the early hours of Tuesday 29 October 2024.

“I would also urge residents in the vicinity to please check their footage from any home CCTV systems or doorbell cameras for anything that might assist our investigation.

“Finally, I would also like to take this opportunity to remind motorists to ensure their vehicles are left secure at all times and never to leave valuables inside when they are unattended.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55240166458. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
