Weekend Sports Report

Weymouth Football Club’s Senior Men’s team moved off the bottom of the National League South league table into 22nd place courtesy of their long-time servant, wing-back Calvin Brooks, who put the Terras into a 1-goal lead in the 44th minute, driving the ball into the back the Aveley net, then after the break despite both teams going close there remained no further scoring by either side.

In the Southern Premier League, Dorchester travelled into Wiltshire to lock horns with Swindon Supermarine. However, their trip proved fruitless as Marine netted through striker Harry Williams after 47 minutes of the game elapsed. However, the Wiltshire side held onto their narrow, 1 goal-to-nil lead until the referee blew the whistle to call the proceedings to a close.

In the Wessex Premier League, Portland United went down at Grove Corner, beaten by visitors Baffins Milton Rovers.

The Portsmouth-based club opened its account in the 25th minute, and neither side managed to bother the scoreboard operator again.

Bridport Reserves go through into the next Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance Trophy round, beating Balti Sports at Cranford Avenue by 3 goals to 1.

The Bees’ Development squad put 8 goals past Allendale Reserves at St. Mary’s with a final scoreline of Bridport 8, Allendale Reserves 2.

On Sunday, Bridport Ladies hosted Burnham Ladies at St. Mary’s and put 10 past the visitor’s goalkeeper with Aleeshea Rowland netting 8 times and Clare Darby and Maisie Mcdonald both adding a goal each.
