As has been widely reported over many months there is strong opposition to the development of a waste incinerator plant at Portland Port. The planning application was rejected by Dorset Council but the government overturned that decision and gave the green light for it, much to the disappointment of local residents and Dorset Council. On Saturday 16th November a public protest was staged on Weymouth seafront attended by upwards of 500 local people.
