Two tennis courts reopened in Dorchester’s Borough Gardens following resurfacing

Dorchester Town Council has announced the reopening of two tennis courts in the Borough Gardens following a successful resurfacing project. This important upgrade, made possible by a generous grant from the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA), ensures the courts are now in top condition for local tennis enthusiasts to enjoy for many years to come.

The resurfacing of these two courts brings the total number of courts in the Borough Gardens to four which follows the addition of two new courts in 2018, and being set in the award-winning gardens makes them a first-class destination for tennis in the area. The newly resurfaced courts are now available for use, offering a fantastic facility for residents and visitors alike.

In a bid to encourage more people to take up the sport and enjoy the benefits of outdoor activity, annual memberships are available. DT1 residents can access the courts for just £35 a year, while non-DT1 residents can enjoy the courts for £50 a year. This household membership provides access for up to six hours of play per week, making it a great value option for families, individuals, and groups. Pay and play is also available for those who don’t want to commit to an annual membership, which can also be booked via the ClubSpark system.

Mayor of Dorchester, Councillor Robin Potter, said:

“We are thrilled to see the Borough Gardens’ tennis courts fully resurfaced and ready for use. With this upgrade and our affordable membership rates, we hope to encourage even more people to get involved in tennis, enjoy the outdoors, and make the most of this fantastic community facility. The support from the Lawn Tennis Association has been invaluable in helping us achieve this, and we look forward to welcoming tennis players of all abilities to the courts.”

Memberships are now available for purchase, and the courts are open for bookings. For more information or to sign up, please visit the Dorchester Town Council website or the LTA ClubSpark website.
