Even the most optimistic of Weymouth Football Club fans are beginning to doubt that the Terras can haul themselves out of the National League South relegation zone after Tuesday evening 2 goals to 1 loss away against fellow strugglers Welling.
The Terras are rooted to the bottom of the league table in 24th place with 15 points from 24 outings and are now 10 points behind 20th-placed Hemel Hempstead and safety.
On Saturday, Weymouth host 6th placed Dorking Wanderers at the Bob Lucas Stadium, and they must quickly turn around their fortunes with a win if they are to avoid dropping into the Southern Premier League next season.
In that division, it’s top versus 4th on Saturday when Dorchester visit league leaders Merthyr Town. When the teams met in November last year, they produced a cracking game that ended in 2 goals all draw, so a repeat of that result on the road would probably satisfy the Magpies faithful.

In the Southwest Peninsular East Bridport entertain Newton Abbott Spurs at St. Mary’s Field.
On Sunday, Weymouth Women’s team play Yeovil Women at the Bob Lucas Stadium, and Bridport Women visit AEK Boco Women.
In the local Tribute Rugby Leagues, Dorchester travel into Wiltshire to play Chippenham’s second team, Swanage & Wareham visit Frome, Puddletown play away against East Dorset Dockers, Blandford are away against Oakmeadians and Lytchett Minster play at Bestwall against Swanage & Wareham second team.
On Sunday Weymouth & Portland Colts lock horns with their Dorchester counterparts at Monmouth Avenue.
