Weekend Sports Report

Weymouth Football Club’s Senior men’s team hosted Dorking at the Bob Lucas Stadium on Saturday and, despite putting up a valiant display, went down by 3 goals to 2.

This result leaves the Terras still rooted firmly to the foot of the National League South League table, although our Man at the Match said: “Weymouth were simply unlucky not to at least to take a point from this game, I can’t make any criticism of the players they never gave up trying for the entire 90 minutes against a club chasing promotion it seems when you are struggling the only luck you get is bad luck”.

Ben Greenwood and Calvin Brooks scored the Terras’ goals.

Dorchester returned from Wales after drawing nil-nil against Southern Premier League table toppers Merthyr Town. The Magpies had at least two good penalty shouts, both for fouls on striker Shaquille Gwengwe, but a draw away against the league leaders is a good result.

Bridport hosted Newton Abbot Spurs at St Mary’s and came from behind to snatch a Southwest Peninsular League East point with a  3- 3 draw.

Ryan Gall, Harley Brook and George Geraghty all scored for the Bees.

On Sunday, Weymouth Football Club’s Ladies entertained their Yeovil counterparts at the Bob Lucas Stadium, with the Glover’s taking all 3 league points courtesy of a 3 goals to 1 victory.

Annie Redding scored the Terras’ goal, and Bridport Ladies lost 3 goals to 2 away against AEK BoKo ladies.
