The NHS in Dorset thanks thousands for getting vaccinated this winter

NHS Dorset is extending its gratitude to the thousands of local people who have already had their flu, COVID-19 and other winter vaccinations, helping to protect themselves, their loved ones and the wider community.

Flu and COVID-19 are still making people very ill across Dorset. Even more people are being encouraged to get protected and take care of themselves and others as it comes to the final week of walk-in clinics for these vaccinations.

Here are some simple things you can do to help:

  • Get your flu, COVID-19, or RSV vaccination if you are eligible. You can get these from your pharmacy, a walk-in clinic or some GP surgeries. Visit www.staywelldorset.nhs.uk/vaccinations to check who is eligible and for more information.
  • Stay home if you feel unwell so you don’t spread germs.
  • Wash your hands regularly.
  • Open windows if you are indoors with other people.
  • Wear a mask if you are in a busy place.

Paul Johnson, Chief Medical Officer at NHS Dorset, said, “We know that vaccinations are one of the most effective ways to protect yourself and others from becoming seriously ill with flu, COVID-19, and RSV during the winter months.

“Thank you to the people who have stayed on track with their vaccinations. You are making a difference.  Whether it’s for you, your child, or someone you look after, getting vaccinated helps everyone to stay safe.”

Winter vaccinations are still available.

  • Flu vaccinations: Available until 31 March.
  • COVID-19 vaccinations: Available until 31 January.
  • RSV vaccinations: Available for people who are pregnant (from 28 weeks) via maternity services and for people aged 75-79 via their GP surgery.

Walk-in clinics for flu and COVID-19 vaccinations are running until the end of the month. People can find these at:

  • Weymouth at the Linden Unit every Tuesday 9:00am – 4:30pm
  • Bournemouth at King’s Park Vaccination Centre every Wednesday 9:00am – 4:30pm.

There will be extra clinics advertised on the walk-in webpage. Pharmacies are also offering appointments which may include weekend opening times.

For information about walk-ins and pharmacies that are still offering vaccinations, visit www.staywelldorset.nhs.uk/vaccinations.

Thank you for helping to keep yourself and Dorset safer this winter. For information on local services please visit www.staywelldorset.nhs.uk.
