Detailed enquiries are ongoing into a series of around seven incidents involving a man reportedly exposing himself in the Wyke Regis area between Friday 13 December 2024 and Saturday 1 March 2025.
As part of the investigation, a local man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of exposure. He has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
Detective Constable Tom Pocock, of Dorset County CID, said: “We appreciate there may be community concern around reported incidents of this nature. We would like to reassure the public we have conducted an extensive investigation and a man has been arrested in connection with our enquiries.
“As we continue to compile evidence in relation to this matter, I would urge any witnesses who have not already spoken to police, or anyone with relevant home CCTV or doorbell camera footage, to please contact us.
“The incidents have occurred in the areas of Mandeville Road, Camp Road, Pirates Cove, North Road and the Rodwell Trail and I would ask anyone who witnesses any suspicious activity in these locations to please report it to us.”
Inspector Sam Goom, of Weymouth and Portland Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We understand the distress and worry these incidents may have caused, and our dedicated neighbourhood policing team will continue to provide support to the wider community. Our actions – carried out by CID and neighbourhood officers – although not obviously visible to the public, have been instrumental in identifying and apprehending a suspect.
“We would like to thank members of the community for their patience and support during this investigation. We have knocked on a lot of doors in search of doorbell and CCTV footage and residents have been very helpful.
“Weymouth remains a safe place to live and visit. These types of reported offences are rare, and we take them incredibly seriously. The safety of our community is our utmost priority.”
