Weekend Sports Preview

Weymouth Football Club’s senior men travel to Hardenhuish Park to play Chippenham Town on Saturday with their Nation League South survival hanging by a thread.

Twenty-third in the league table, 13 points adrift from safety and 7 games remaining to secure their league status, so it looks like every match from here on in is a cup final for the Terras.

In the Southern Premier League, Dorchester host Marlow at the Avenue Stadium, Portland United play visitors AFC Stoneham at Grove Corner, and Bridport entertain Stoke Gabrial & Torbay Police at St. Mary’s Field, with the Bees’ Development Squad travelling to play Bournemouth Electric.

This Saturday, both Dorchester and Bridport football clubs welcome some of their former players and managers to their stadiums, with some of the players having legendary status among the club’s supporters.

In the local Tribute League Rugby competition, Dorchester lock horns with Combe Down at Coburg Road, Swanage & Wareham host Corsham at Bestwall, Bridport entertain North Dorset Second’s at Brewery Field, Puddletown welcome Wimborne Second team at Greenfields and Weymouth & Portland play their final league home match this season at Monmouth Avenue against Swanage & Wareham Second team.

On Sunday, Weymouth Football Club’s Women’s squad play Helston at the Bob Lucas Stadium, Dorchester and Ridgeway Ladies teams meet at the Avenue Stadium, Bridport Ladies Reserves host Bournemouth Manor and Weymouth & Portland Rugby Club’s Shehorses travel to play Trojans Women.
