Two men have been charged following an investigation by detectives into a reported robbery and attempted robberies near Dorchester.
It was reported that at around 7.35pm on Friday 14 February 2025 a man driving a white Mercedes stopped to assist two men near to the Woodsford level crossing on Lewell Road near Crossways. It appeared that their vehicle – a silver Ford Focus – had either broken down or been involved in a collision.
It is reported that the two men then removed the male driver of the Mercedes from his car and attempted to drive off in the vehicle, before colliding with a barrier at a level crossing.
The two men then reportedly left the Mercedes, attempted to stop other passing vehicles and made threats to the occupants, but then left the scene on foot.
A 33-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested and charged with robbery, criminal damage and two counts of attempted robbery. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 29 March 2025 and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 1 May 2025. He has been remanded in custody until the next court date.
A 22-year-old man from Poole was subsequently arrested and charged with robbery, aggravated vehicle taking and dangerous driving and two counts of attempted robbery. He is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Monday 31 March 2025.
