Dorset Museum & Art Gallery’s The Hayden Princess goes on Tour

Dorset Museum & Art Gallery is proud to announce the Hayden Princess Traction Engine Tour. From May to September 2025, visitors across Dorset will have the rare opportunity to experience this iconic piece of living history in full steam.

The Hayden Princess — a beautifully preserved traction engine — will be heading out on the road this Summer to headline some of Dorset’s most beloved events.

Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable spectacle as the Hayden Princess roars to life, highlighting the sights, sounds, and smells of a bygone era. Whether you are a vintage machinery enthusiast, a family looking for a unique day out, or simply curious about local history, this is an experience not to be missed.

Catch the Hayden Princess at these events:

  • 3 & 4 May 2025 – Dorset Spring Show
  • 5 & 6 July 2025 – Chickerell Steam & Vintage Show
  • 8–10 August 2025 – Purbeck Steam Rally
  • 6 & 7 September 2025 – Dorset County Show
  • 21 September 2025 – Heritage Open Day, Dorchester

Join us to step back in time and marvel at the mechanical wonders of the past. This is a unique opportunity to see Dorset’s very own treasure, the Hayden Princess, steaming proudly once again.
