Detectives are appealing for any witnesses to come forward as they investigate a report of a serious assault at a beauty spot near Dorchester.
Shortly before 2pm on Saturday 3 May 2025 Dorset Police received a report that a man aged in his 30s had been assaulted by another man who was known to him in the area of Hardy Monument.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts and a suspected stab wound, with the injuries not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening.
Following fast-paced enquiries by officers, a man aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder shortly afterwards in the Weymouth area. He has been released on police bail as detectives continue their investigation.
Detective Constable Neil Hooker, of Dorset County CID, said: “We have been conducting extensive enquiries into this matter and have arrested a suspect.
“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and may be able to assist our enquiries to please contact us.
“In particular, I understand two members of the public came to the aid of the victim and I would be keen for these individuals to please make themselves known to us, so we can take their accounts.”
