Witness appeal after reported disturbance in Weymouth

Dorset police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an alleged disturbance in Weymouth.

At around 8pm on Friday 13 June 2025, it is reported that a man was in possession of a metal bar in Bond Street. He was allegedly swinging the pole toward a group of young people.

During the incident, a boy sustained minor injuries.

Officers attended and a 42-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. He has been released on police bail as enquiries continue.

Police Sergeant Scott Williams, of Dorset Police, said: “I understand there were a number of people in the area who may have seen what happened. I would ask any witnesses who have not already spoken to police to please get in touch.

“I know this incident would have caused concern to anyone who was in the area, but I would like to reassure that a full investigation is underway.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55250084804. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
