Countryside Matters 09.06.25

We’re turning our attention today, mostly to water, how we should value it more, how we could manage it better, and some of the creatures that depend on it for life, just as we do, of course. So Professor Hannah Cloke of Reading University will be urging us to find better ways to capture and store rainwater, as will Matt Wielden of Wessex Water, who went to Westminster recently to talk to a group of MPs about using and recycling rainwater locally. Jane Adams will be telling us about the marvelous dragonflies and revealing some of the wonders of these aerial acrobats, and we hear from one of our regulars, a man who always manages a smile and a laugh, and who loves his job as managing director of the Garden’s Group and all the challenges that role entails. Mike Burks has tips on how to protect our plants when there’s such variable weather. Presented by Jenny Devitt!
