A detailed investigation by detectives into a report of a serious assault in Weymouth has resulted in two people being charged.
Dorset Police received a report at 2.50am on Saturday 14 June 2025 of two men with injuries in the town centre.
Officers attended alongside the ambulance service and it was reported that the two men – aged in their 20s – had previously been assaulted in Maiden Street and sustained suspected stab wounds.
Their injuries were described as serious but not life-threatening and they were taken to hospital for treatment.
Following an extensive investigation by detectives from Dorset County CID, two men have now been charged in connection with the incident and have appeared in court.
An 18-year-old man from London has been charged with attempted murder and wounding with intent. He appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 July 2025 and is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday 7 August 2025.
Another 18-year-old man, also from London, has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 July 2025. He is next due to appear at Bournemouth Crown Court on Friday 1 August 2025.
A 16-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and a 30-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender remain on police bail.
Detective Inspector Ben Griffin, of Dorset County CID, said: “Following detailed enquiries, we have consulted with the Crown Prosecution, which has authorised charges against two individuals in this case.
“I want to thank members of the public who shared and responded to our appeals for information during this investigation.
“This matter will be subject to active court proceedings and it is vital that the justice process is allowed to follow it’s course. We would therefore urge members of the public to refrain from speculation or commentary relating to this case, particularly online and on social media.”
