West Dorset CAMRA announce Pub Garden of the Year 2025

West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) has  announced that this year’s winner of the “Pub Garden Award 2025 ” is the Pymore Inn located in Pymore just outside of Bridport.

The pub garden was nominated by CAMRA members then an independent judging panel visited all of the gardens in the competition using a vigorous scoring system taking into account things like accessibility for all, cleanliness, tidiness and general up-keep of the garden. This is the second time the pub has won the prestigious competition having previously won in 2021.

On presenting the award West Dorset CAMRA Chairman Bruce Mead said, “It was a real pleasure to present the Pymore Inn with their award on a fine summer’s evening. The garden was a clear winner with our judges when they visited, and judging by the number of people there on Friday night, we’re not alone in thinking that.”

The pub’s garden is surrounded by a grade II listed red brick boundary wall and can seat up to 150 outside guests on well kept bench seating.  There is a secure children’s play area, under cover marquee seating and a large timber clad outside bar near a fire pit for autumn nights.

Although the garden occupies a large green space there is an ever-present fir tree that dominates the garden to give welcome shade on English hot summer days. Also to note is how the plants and shrubbery have blossomed and bloomed since the 2021 award making it a very appealing outside space that compliments the ivy clad pub itself.

Landlord Alex Marshall said, “We are utterly delighted at this year’s award. It’s very much a team effort and everyone appreciates its beauty. We even had a neighbour dead-heading the standard roses a couple of weeks ago.”

Alex went on to say “It’s great to be recognised by CAMRA as a lot of work goes into the maintenance and planting every year to make it an enjoyable space for everyone.”
