Another Octoberfest Success!

West Dorset Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) is delighted to report on the huge success of Weymouth Octoberfest 2025 held at Weymouth Pavilion.

Around 900 customers passed through the doors to sample 55 Real Ales and 14 Ciders and Perries.

Out of the 55 Real Ales on offer Norfolk brewery’s Ampersand, Cowella Stout won the public vote. The 4.8% stout had flavours of Chocolate, Hazelnut and Vanilla and was an early beer to run out.

Copper St brewery of Dorchester brought back long gone beers from East Anglia and proved a customer hit with a 6.6% Double Stout originally brewed by W+T Bagg & Co in 1921 taking second place.  Whin Hill of Norfolk took first place for “Cider of the Festival” with a 5.4% medium dry.

Blue Bridge a popular duo from Dorchester played contemporary classics on Friday evening while customers were entertained Saturday night by young raw talent from Weymouth, “The Undecided” who rocked out the Pavilion. By the end of Saturday night there was still a good choice of over 30 beers to choose from and a large selection of ciders.

Our reporter Andy Worth was an early visitor at the event and spoke to Rich Gabe, west Dorset CAMRA Press Officer:

Speaking on behalf of the Octoberfest committee Rich said:

“Firstly I would like to thank all the volunteers who worked and made the event such a fun and successful event, everybody worked really hard. We love being at the Pavilion. The staff here are always accommodating.”

Rich continued: “As a branch of CAMRA  next year sees us celebrate our 50th anniversary and we cannot wait to return to the Pavilion with a West Country theme of beer and cider”.
