Weekend Sports Preview

It’s a Dorset Derby at the Avenue Stadium on Saturday where Dorchester host Wimborne Town in the Battle of the Birds round 1 to sort out who owns the bragging rights until the 2 Magpies meet again in February next year.

Weymouth’s manager Steve Claridge will be hoping that his team can produce a much improved performance away against Farnham Town following their 6 goals to nil defeat at Poole last weekend.

The Portland United players will be looking forwards to their runout at the Flying Monk Stadium against Malmesbury Victoria in a FA Vase tie after their game last week was postponed due to a power failure at Andover.

Bridport first team have no fixture, but the Bees’ Reserves host Dorchester Sports at St Mary’s with a kickoff time of 2:00 pm.

On Sunday Weymouth Football Club’s women entertain Weston Super Mare Women at the Bob Lucas Stadium and Bridport Ladies play Cobham Sports at home.

In the local Tribute Ale Rugby Leagues, Swanage & Wareham host Salisbury at Bestwall, Bridport play Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew at Brewery Field, Weymouth & Portland entertain Puddletown at Monmouth Avenue, Dorchester travel to Yeovil and Lytchett Minster welcome close neighbors Swanage & Wareham second team.

On Friday evening Dorchester Gladiators lock horns with Weymouth & Portland Pirates under lights at Coburg Road with the match starting at 7: 30 pm.

On Sunday afternoon Weymouth & Portland’s women’s team, the Shehorses play away against Eastleigh.
