Weekend Sports Preview

Both of our local Southern Premier Clubs must start picking up league points soon if they are to avoid a relegation dog fight when the season draws to its close in April next year. 

Weymouth are currently in 19th place with 18 points from 20 outings while Dorchester are one place below the Terras with 17 points from 19 matches and both clubs are in the league’s drop zone. 

On Saturday Weymouth travel to Alwyns Lane to play Chertsey, the Curfews hold a mid-table 9th position while at the Avenue Stadium Dorchester’s opposition Hungerford are 16th in the league table. 

In the Wessex Premier Division Portland United visit the Community Stadium to lock horns with their hosts Hamble and Bridport head into Somerset to play Bishops Lydeard for a Southwest Peninsular League East fixture. 

The Bees’ Reserves host Puddletown at St. Mary’s for a Dorset Premier League match. 

On Sunday Bridport Ladies entertain Portishead Reserves at St. Mary’s and Ridgeway Ladies visit Victoria Park to play Bournemouth Poppies. 

Tribute Ale League Rugby Fixtures. 

Swanage & Wareham vs Corsham, Bridport vs Lytchett Minster, East Dorset Dockers vs Swanage & Wareham a xv, Oakmeadians vs Dorchester, Puddletown vs Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew & Weymouth & Portland vs Yeovil.
