New use for Dorchester garage site

by Trevor Bevins, Local Democracy Reporting Service.

NEW uses have been approved for a former car dealership in Dorchester.

Planning consent has been granted to turn the Prince of Wales Road site into a new home for a vehicle rentals operation and a tyre business.

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Uk, want to use most of the former BMW garage, moving from its existing site on the Marabout Industrial Estate, Dorchester.

The approved planning consent includes room for 21 car parking spaces, 3 for vans, 7 overflow bays and a new wash bay and offices.

Sharing the site will be the tyre fitting business, Tyreworld, which is currently based at the Railway Triangle Estate in the county town.

The consent for the change of use included consent for new advertising signs.

Dorchester Town Council welcomed the proposal asking Dorset Council, which made the decision, to ensure that the existing soft landscaping is protected.
