Dredging operation at West Bay

Idris Martin reporting.

Recent storms have gathered up over 15,000. tons of shingle from Chesil Beach and deposited it in West Bay Harbour, causing major problems to local shipping.

Civil engineering contractors have been tasked with dredging the shingle from the harbour entrance and returning it to the beach.

The ongoing works have attracted locals and visitors alike who seem transfixed, watching the civil engineers undertake the job.
