Dorchester Poverty Action launch an updated debt leaflet

Many people are struggling locally with their finances, especially when there is an unforeseen bill like repairs to a car needed for work or a new washing machine.

Dorchester Poverty Action have been working with local agencies such as Citizens Advice, social workers, health visitors school, etc for over 30 years to provide grants in postcodes DT1 and DT2 to prevent local people entering  a spiral of debt.  By providing a grant of up to £300 this can make all the difference between coping and debt.

This financial year has been the busiest ever, where more than 200 families and individuals have been helped with a main grant.  This is the most in any of the last 30 years and there are still a few more weeks left of the financial year.

Another way the charity helps is through information.  Dorchester Poverty Action are launching their recently updated debt leaflet at their coffee morning on Sat March 14 from 10am – 12 noon at United Church Dorchester.  Come along and pick up a leaflet, find out where you can get help both locally and online, if you are having sleepless nights worrying about your financial situation.

Free refreshments are available at the coffee morning to encourage people to come and pick up a leaflet.  But also to say thank you to our many local supporters, who donate either regularly or through a fundraising event.    Without you, none of this would be possible.

Besides free refreshments there will be a cake stall, books, bric-a-brac, nearly new/gifts and raffle.

Everyone very welcome.
