It’s back to Southern Premier League action for two of our local football clubs this weekend following their Dorset Senior Cup final clash.
Dorchester and Weymouth locked horns at the Avenue Stadium on Tuesday evening, and both managers took the opportunity to rest some of their senior players and field squad players in their starting 11’s.
Weymouth lifted the trophy for the 33rd time, winning the game by two goals to nil with the Terras’ scores coming from Tom Bearwish and Kieran Douglas.
Dorchester have found a recent run of form under the guidance of their new manager, Wes Fogden, and have almost lifted the threat of relegation; that is not the case for Weymouth, who sit in 19th place in the league table and host 17th placed Hungerford Town at the Bob Lewis Stadium in a match that can only be described as a 6-pointer.
The Magpies, 15th in the table, visit 16th placed Basingstoke Town, so “Foggie” and his young chargers will be hoping to return with at the very least a point to show from the game.
In the Wessex Premier League, Portland United visit Baffins Milton Rovers, while in the Southwest Peninsular League, East Bridport host Bovey Tracey at St. Mary’s.
