Have your say on the Milton Abbas Neighbourhood Plan

Local residents are invited to have their say on a plan reflecting the community’s vision for the Parish of Milton Abbas.

The Milton Abbas Neighbourhood Plan sets out a range of planning policies and has been submitted to Dorset Council by the Parish Council.

The plan’s objectives include meeting local housing needs while ensuring that the design of new development is in keeping with its surroundings. It also aims to protect and enhance locally important features. The plan identifies sites for around 22 additional homes, and designates nine Local Green Spaces.

Councillor David Walsh, Portfolio Holder for Planning at Dorset Council, said: “It is good news that the Milton Abbas Neighbourhood Plan has been submitted to Dorset Council.

“Volunteers have put a lot of time and energy into this plan that will hopefully meet the needs of their community. I encourage anyone with an interest in the future of Milton Abbas to view the submitted plan and consider making comments.”

The plan is available for viewing and public comment for 6 weeks. Dorset Council will then arrange for the plan to be independently examined.

The plan, supporting documents, and response form can be accessed online at www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/milton-abbas-neighbourhood-plan

A hard copy can also be accessed from St James Church, Milton Abbas, and from the council offices at South Walks House, South Walks Road, Dorchester during normal opening hours.

All comments must be received by 4pm on Friday 13 March 2020. These comments will then be sent to an appointed examiner along with the plan. Depending on the examiner’s report, a referendum will be held enabling residents of Milton Abbas to decide whether the plan should be adopted.
