New anti-littering signs have been installed by the goat grazing enclosures by Old Hill on Portland.
The signs created by Litter Free Dorset, are in response to the 6 goats that died last year. Su and John Illsley from Fancy’s Family Farm on Portland were shocked to find their goats dead, with dog poo bags hanging out of their mouths. The illustrated goats on the new signs remind dog owners that they are not bins!
Sophie from Litter Free Dorset said ‘Most dog owners are caring, responsible individuals, however there are still some people who do not clean up after their pets. It’s important for people to remember the devasting impacts of littering, it’s not only an eye saw but can harm and kill animals and other wildlife. We are asking all dog owners to make sure when they pick up the poo, they bin the bag too!’
Littering has increased since lockdown restrictions have eased and it’s important to remind people to take their rubbish home. Dog poo is a litter issue which increases when people think they aren’t being watched. Want to help spread the Litter Free Dorset Message?
