Dorset Police Cyber Crime Unit reinforces warning about text scams

The Dorset Police Cyber Crime Facebook page has the following warning:

Keep your eyes peeled for this scam text that’s doing the rounds. This one is fairly well known by now, but it can be very convincing so it’s well worth a reminder.

This particular link takes you to a convincing lookalike of the Royal Mail website, with a web form asking for a lot of personal information. (Don’t click to find out, we use tools to make sure we can do so safely.)

Remember, you can report spam messages to telecoms providers by forwarding the text to 7726 (which spells Spam on a telephone keypad). You can report scam emails by forwarding them to report@phishing.gov.uk, and you can find more cyber safety advice at www.ncsc.gov.uk/cyberaware.

The image below, from Dorset Police Cyber Crime Facebook page, is an example of the scam text.
