A mile a day raises £2,300 for the RNLI

Chair of fundraising at Weymouth lifeboat station Teresa Drage has just completed the final mile in the RNLI Mayday Mile Challenge.

The RNLI Mayday Challenge is the annual fundraiser for the RNLI in which everyone is encouraged to travel a mile a day by any means for every day of May.

Teresa who uses a walking frame to help her get around started the challenge in hopes of raising £300 for the RNLI.

At 7pm on 31st May, Teresa, supported by family, friends, supporters and lifeboat crew set off from the Jubilee Clock to walk the last mile to the lifeboat station.

On arrival at the lifeboat station she was met by Weymouth Town Mayor Cllr. Colin Huckle who praised Teresa for all the hard work that she has done in raising the total to date of £2,300 for the RNLI.

Teresa said, “I want to thank each and every one of you, who has supported me in my Mayday Mile Challenge, it has been Absolutely Mind blowing, all the words of encouragement from family, friends and complete strangers.

I would also like to thank my fellow walkers and my RNLI Family (#WeymouthRNLI) who are the reason I set myself this challenge, and I hope I’ve done them proud as I know I’ve done myself proud.”
