400 Trees for Transition Town Dorchester

Transition Town has been awarded the 400 free trees and hedgerow shrubs by The Conservation Volunteers via their ‘I Dig Trees’ programme sponsored by OVO Energy.

The trees and shrubs will be used to supplement the new hedgerows recently planted over the last few years at Castlefield (the informal open space between Maiden Castle Road and Holmead Walk to the north of the bypass).

Richard Bradford (@dorsetandbeyond), from TTD, told KeeP 106: “We hope volunteers from across Dorchester will help us get a good number of the trees planted on Sunday 5th December which is the last weekend of National Tree Week – as they say, many hands make light work!”

“We would love to hear from any other group or school that might want help to plant trees in Dorchester this winter.”
