Weymouth & Portland were scheduled to play hosts to visitors Sherborne second xv at Monmouth Avenue on Saturday, and would have started the game as clear favourites to emerge victors, however the north Dorset side have cancelled the fixture citing to few players to field a competitive side.
The Seasiders head coach Rich Bament said: “To say we are disappointed is an understatement, at least we get awarded 5 league points for the cancellation. The lads morale is 100% at present and now we have to sit this one out and look forwards to next weeks game away against Blandford”.
In the same division Bridport entertain Salisbury Extra 1st xv while Puddletown welcome Blandford to Greenfields for a Dorset derby clash.
In Tribute Southern Counties South Dorchester have an excellent opportunity to move up the league at Coburg Road, but only if they can beat visitors Avonvale. Both sides have only managed 1 victory each this season and only points difference separates the County Town from their guests who are 7th place while Dorchester are just 1 off the bottom of the league table in 11th.
The Seasiders’ social team, the Pirates will be in action at Coburg Road against Dorchester Gladiators on Friday evening kick off 7.30pm.
