Voluntary and community organisations boosted by new funding

Dorset Council has launched a new round of grants to support social, voluntary and community sector organisations.

The Organisational Support Revenue Fund (OSRF) will provide core revenue support to local community organisations that address the needs of disadvantaged, under served and marginalized communities in Dorset.

Social, voluntary and community sector organisations that support the needs of vulnerable people in the community and provide activities, particularly emergency, health and social care provision can apply for a grant of between £5,000 – £10,000 per annum for up to two years to help with their running costs.

Cllr Laura Miller, Dorset Council Portfolio Holder for Customer and Community Services, said:

“I’m delighted Dorset Council is able to offer this support to community and voluntary organisations.

“The hard work and dedication of individuals, volunteers and community groups in Dorset is immense, and the projects and events that we fund make such a real difference to people’s lives.

“We look forward to receiving applications from a wide range of organisations.”

People First Dorset received an organisational revenue support grant last year for £16,500 over three years.   Laura Kerr, Manager said:

“The funding has enabled us to continue working alongside adults with learning disabilities, developing welcoming and inclusive activities in their local community, and offering a variety of interventions which help to give beneficiaries a voice, to stay safe and become more confident.

“One of our projects will promote better employment opportunities for people with learning difficulties and build strong support networks they can access.”

All applicants must demonstrate how they meet at least one of Dorset Council’s Corporate priorities in their application and show how their work provides support to projects that focus on marginalised and disadvantaged people.

Applications must be submitted on the council’s online application form.  Further details including eligibility, exclusions, funding criteria, closing dates and guidance on completing your online  application form can be found on the council’s website.

If you require any further information before applying, please contact a member of the team on communities@dorsetcouncil.gov.

All applications must be received by Friday 1 April.

Awards will be made on 20 April.
