Reduction in Covid cases in England but slight increase in hospitalisations in Dorset

Public Health Dorset have recently updated the way they report the latest local COVID-19 situation on their dashboard. Data from the ONS infection survey is now used which estimates the number of people currently testing positive.

The survey shows that the percentage of people testing positive for coronavirus in England has decreased, with an estimate of around 1 in 14 people testing positive in the week ending 9 April, compared to 1 in 13 in the previous week.

Public Health Dorset no longer uses confirmed case rates from the national dashboard as free testing for the general public has ended, so this no longer accurately reflects the real picture of how many people have COVID-19 in our communities.

An update is published every Monday, but you can view the local dashboard anytime on the Public Health Dorset website.

Other data is available from the national dashboard which is updated every weekday.
