Witness appeal following report of assault in Weymouth

Officers investigating a report of an assault in Weymouth are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

It was reported that at around 3pm on Sunday 2 July 2023 a woman aged in her 40s was assaulted by a man on Westham Bridge.

The woman did not sustain any serious injuries.

Following enquiries, a local man aged in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released on police bail as further investigations are carried out.

The arrested man and the woman involved are reported to be known to each other.

Police Constable Nathan Busby, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to make enquiries into this incident, which occurred in the middle of the afternoon in a public place.

“I would urge anyone who saw what happened, or who has any information that might assist our investigation, to please contact us.”
