Witness and dashcam appeal following fail-to-stop collision in Weymouth

Police officers investigating a fail-to-stop collision in Weymouth are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

At approximately 7am on Sunday 10 September 2023, a two vehicle collision occurred on the A354 Rodwell Road at the junction with St Leonard’s Road.

The driver of one of the vehicles involved – a Citroen C4 – advised the driver of the other vehicle to park further up the road in a safe location to exchange details.

The other vehicle did not arrive at the location and no details were exchanged. The vehicle is described as dark blue and possibly a Mazda or a Vauxhall Astra.

Police Constable Reuben Wilkinson, of Weymouth police, said: “Thankfully, nobody was injuried. However, the Citroen was significantly damaged and I am keen to speak to the driver of the other vehicle.

“I am appealing to anyone who saw what happened, or may have captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“Also, I would urge the driver to please do the right thing and contact Dorset Police so we can take your account of the circumstances.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230143546. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
