Witness appeal after man found seriously injured near Dorchester

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information to come forward as they investigate an incident where a man was found with serious injuries near Dorchester.

Dorset Police received a report at 6.28am on Sunday 29 October 2023 that a man had been found with injuries by the side of the West Stafford bypass near Dorchester, just south of West Stafford between the A352 and Highgate Lane.

Emergency services attended and the man – aged in his 20s – was taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains in a serious condition.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Wright, of Dorset County CID, said: “We are carrying out detailed enquiries as we seek to establish how this man came to sustain his injuries.

“I would appeal to anyone who witnessed anyone by the roadside in the area of Dorchester and the West Stafford bypass during the early hours of Sunday 29 October 2023, or anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the vicinity, to please contact us.

“I would also ask any motorists with dashcam who were driving in the area to please review their footage to see if they have captured anything of relevance.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55230171580. Alternatively, independent charity Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling Freephone 0800 555 111.
